A key to having a successful recording is knowing that your aspirations and goals are also understood, agreed upon, and are being excecuted by the recording engineer or producer, whoever is in charge of tracking, mixing, and mastering your music. Too often artists have the assumption the engineer knows exactly what he or she wants. While it is true that engineers have developed excellent and uncanny methods of tracking, mixing, and mastering some outstanding projects, it does not imply, however, these same methodologies will work in every situation. Therefore it is vital for the artist to clearly state what his or her goals and objectives are, which will help to ensure a good recording experience.
